At Big Sur Health Center our family is caring for yours. Our belief is that health care should be available to everyone … this is why we accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, and participate in a variety of subsidized and sliding scale programs. At Big Sur Health Center we are the heart of your healthcare by providing both preventive and urgent care, minor surgical procedures and basic laboratory and pharmaceutical services. During emergencies such as fires, storms and road closures that isolate Big Sur, your health center staff is always here to serve you.

Big Sur Health Center Welcomes Dr. Margaret Simon!

Big Sur Health Center welcomes Margaret Simon, M.D. who will join as our newest staff physician in January 2024. She will also assume the role of Medical Director, replacing Dr. Brita Bruemmer who retires December 31, 2023, after 9 years of dedicated service to the community.

Dr. Simon completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, CA earning the Hannon-Lauderdale-Rumbel-Santell Memorial Award for outstanding performance in 2010. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Simon has been in practice for 13 years, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to families in the Salinas Valley. During the pandemic, she helped open, staff, and run the two new Altais by Everside clinics.

Dr. Simon cherishes the time she spends with her patients. She believes that hearing their stories and actively listening to their concerns fosters a strong doctor-patient relationship that all patients deserve. She insists on providing thorough, high-quality, evidence-based medical care and strives to do so with compassion and humor.

Her interests include integrative medicine, improving care for the underserved, and championing family medicine.

Outside of her working hours, Dr. Simon enjoys spending time with her family, which includes, (but is not limited to) daughters, dogs, and chickens. She enjoys being in her garden, under redwoods and in the ocean. She also enjoys reading, fiber arts, and baking.
