We believe that the Big Sur Health Center is your "medical-home." Our team listens and learns from our patients and families, and involves them in designing and evaluating all aspects of how care is delivered.
At Big Sur Health Center, we are caring for the growing needs of our community. The Multicultural Outreach Committee (representatives from the board, staff and the Big Sur community) remains dedicated to its primary goals: bilingual health education, reducing childhood obesity in the community, and increasing oral health through our preventive dental service.
Looking to the future, the center has met the challenge of developing technology by implementing an electronic medical records system. This assures the protection of critical patient data and remote access to information in the event of a disaster that threatens or closes the facility.
October 2009 marked the 30th anniversary of Big Sur Health Center. In honor of this milestone, US Representative Sam Farr, presented the health center with a copy of the Congressional Resolution he had sponsored, in which was stated:
"The Big Sur Health Center is a national treasure. It exemplifies a kind of grass roots based health service that will be a key ingredient in a reformed American health care system – first rate medical care, cutting edge technology, in a community based setting."
